Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, through the Valencian Institute of Tourist Technologies (Invat·tur), and together with the Hotel Technology Institute (ITH), has supported the launch of the first 'smart room', the ITH project TechYRoom 1.0, implemented in a pioneering way in the city of Benidorm, with which a great step has been taken for the future of the hotel industry.
In this way, the Hotel RH Corona del Mar Benidorm has been chosen as the first hotel to carry out this project, which will revolutionize the way in which hotels incorporate technology. This 'intelligent room' has been presented by the Minister of Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Nuria Montes and the president of ITH, Javier García.
It is the first room in the country that incorporates a set of technologies and digital solutions focused on improving the guest experience, through a differentiated and specialised service, while placing special emphasis on optimizing the working conditions of the hotel staff.
During the opening ceremony, Nuria Montes pointed out that "this is an inspiring example of innovation in the hotel industry of the Valencian Community, which lays the foundations for a bright future in sustainability and hospitality".
Along these lines, Montes emphasized that "once again Benidorm shows that it is a cutting-edge destination", and added that the capital of the Costa Blanca "again, is once again at the forefront of what the future will be of Spanish tourism and international tourism".
As specified by the head of Tourism "this smart room is far from that futuristic, space or galactic idea, and is transformed precisely into a room that takes care of the customer, and that is perfectly in line with the goals we have from the Government Valencian in terms of tourism".
For his part, Javier García Cuenca, president of ITH has declared that "this initiative represents a significant effort in the coordination and implementation of different technologies and solutions, which will allow us to take the hotel industry of the Valencian Community to a higher level in the process of digital transformation of the accommodation space, and in short, to improve the customer experience thanks to public-private collaboration and the impetus of the Generalitat".
Creation of a reference standard
The choice of the RH Corona del Mar Hotel, located in Benidorm, was based on its strategic location, in addition to its vision to become a point of reference for cutting-edge technology in the region.
In fact, and according to the Minister of Tourism, "this project has already attracted interest", alluding to other hoteliers who attended the presentation and inauguration of this 'intelligent room', "because they also want to visualize how this room of the future is working to be able to incorporate these technological innovations, which have already been tested with tremendously positive results", added Montes.
In addition, this prototype seeks to revolutionize the way in which hotels incorporate technology, taking advantage of possible projects in the process of reform, with the aim of integrating innovative, useful and affordable solutions for each case, encouraging scalability and promoting diffusion of technology.
In this sense, Montes recalled that "a hotel room is renovated on average between 7 and 10 years, so these technologies will be incorporated immediately".
The four axes of the 'technological room'
The four axes on which this 'technological room' pivots are the improvement of the guest experience (including the transformation of spaces, active and passive communication and interaction, and accessibility), the digital transformation of processes, the management and operational improvement of the hotel and energy efficiency, by foreseeing, among others, aspects such as sustainability and the circular economy.
On this subject, Nuria Montes has highlighted that it is "a room that stands out for its comfort, for that feeling of being at home", in addition, it is a project based on values such as "sustainability, care of working conditions and accessibility".
He also pointed out that Turisme Comunitat Valenciana will continue to support projects like this one, "we believe that, with these experiences, we are precisely forging what the hotel industry of the future will be".
The launch of ITH TechYroom 1.0 has involved the coordination and integration of proposals from more than 20 reference technology companies, which have provided a huge variety of leading tools such as: artificial intelligence, robots or collaborative robotics. laboratory, 3D printing, accessible signage, ergonomic furniture, lighting systems, smart vinyls, home automation, videoconferencing equipment, climate control, automation and robotics, cyber security and digital replication, among others.
