L'Alfàs del Pi / 5 June 2026
EU-Funded Investment in Smart Tourism
L'Alfàs del Pi is set to enhance its smart tourism offering with the installation of two new interactive tourist information panels in Albir, thanks to an investment of €46,249 fully funded through the European Union's NextGenerationEU recovery programme.
Strategic Locations for Visitors
The digital information points will be located at two of the municipality's busiest visitor hubs: the Paseo de las Estrellas beside the Tourist Info office and the entrance to the popular Albir Lighthouse route within the Serra Gelada Natural Park.
Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the touch-screen panels will provide real-time information on local attractions, walking routes, events, cultural activities, beaches, services and points of interest. Visitors will also be able to download information directly to their mobile devices via QR codes.
Improving Accessibility and Inclusion
The project forms part of L'Alfàs del Pi's wider Tourism Sustainability Plan and Smart Tourist Destination strategy, which aims to improve accessibility, digital innovation and visitor services across the municipality. The new technology will comply with international accessibility standards, ensuring easier access to information for people with disabilities and those with reduced mobility.
Data to Enhance the Visitor Experience
In addition to providing tourist information, the panels will collect anonymous usage data and visitor satisfaction surveys. The information gathered will help tourism officials better understand visitor behaviour, identify the most popular attractions and improve future tourism services and marketing initiatives.
Part of a Wider Tourism Transformation
Councillor for Tourism Luis Miguel Morant said the project will strengthen the town's reputation as an innovative and accessible destination, while Councillor for European Funds Dolores Albero highlighted the importance of European funding in delivering practical improvements for residents and visitors alike.
The initiative is one of several projects being delivered through more than €4.4 million in European funding secured by L'Alfàs del Pi. The investment supports sustainable tourism, digital transformation and accessibility improvements, helping position the municipality as one of the Costa Blanca's leading smart tourism destinations.
