- The City Council has installed, next to the accessible beach area in Elche Park, a seating area in the water and railings to facilitate access.
- This facility will be operational until October 15
Benidorm City Council has expanded beach services for people with reduced mobility with the installation of a seating area in the water and a walkway for easier access. These new services have been operational since this past weekend next to the accessible beach point in Elche Park. Mayor Toni Pérez and Councilor for Beaches Mónica Gómez visited this point to hear user feedback on the new facilities.
As the mayor explained, "with this new bathing area, people with reduced mobility have a space adapted to their needs where they can cool off and enjoy the sea independently, complementing the adapted bathrooms available at accessible beaches." Furthermore, "thanks to the handrails installed below, people with mobility issues can access the sea more conveniently and safely."
The new bathing area has 22 seats and is covered with a tarp that protects users from the sun.
The mayor announced that "these new services will be operational until October 15th," thus covering "the months with the highest demand and highest number of users on our beaches." He also noted that "in Benidorm, we were pioneers in promoting accessibility services on our beaches with the opening of accessible beach points, thus ensuring that everyone can enjoy the full experience of a day at the beach."
During the summer season, Benidorm opens its three accessible beach locations, staffed by the company that manages the beach's comprehensive management; these personnel are responsible for the accessible restrooms. These three locations are located in Elche Park, opposite Mont Benidorm Avenue (both in the west), and at the height of Murcia Street (in the east).
Both the Levante and Elche Park stations provide service year-round.
