Thousands of motor enthusiasts will gather at the Iberia Motor Fest, a day of coexistence by the sea

American cars, motorbikes of various styles, rock and roll bands and motorcycle clubs will star at the meeting on the edge of Antoneta beach from March 22 to 24.

The event has a wide program of activities open to the public. It will start on Friday evening with music sessions by DJs, tapas and a biker party. On Saturday, the crowd will be buzzing with the roar of engines at the American Car Engine Sound Contests and Stunt Passes, where fans burn wheels. The Red Bull party and the 6th anniversary of the Indian Motorcycle Riders Groups club in Alicante will also be celebrated, where the new Indians of 2024 will be presented. In the evening, around 700 motorcycles and 200 American cars will parade through the most emblematic corners of La Vila Joiosa and, at night, Carlos Segarra, the singer of Los Rebeldes, and the groups Doctor Infierno and Tribute to ACDC will perform. On Sunday, the DJ music sessions will continue until the evening.
 
The festival will feature motorbikes from different brands and models such as Indian Motorcycle, Harley Davison, Royal Enfield, Honda, Yamaha, Vespa, Montesa and Ossa, among others, as well as American cars belonging to clubs all over Spain. Organized by Sud-est Bike Week, it has the collaboration of the Sports Department of Vila Joiosa City Council and the village club GTM 2 Rodes.

La Vila Joiosa decrees three days of mourning for the death of three people in the fire at their home in La Cala

Three people have died in the fire of their home in a building in Cala de la Vila Joiosa. The fire started around 2.30 in the morning in a house located on the eleventh floor of the building located at Avinguda dels Mariners number 1 in La Cala de la Vila Joiosa. The victims are three members of the same family, a grandmother, her son and her five-year-old grandson, whose bodies were found by firefighters inside the house.
 
Another 15 people were injured by smoke inhalation and after being treated in hospital, were able to return to their homes, so no serious injuries were recorded. The residents of the building have already been able to return to their homes after being evacuated, except for three who are being re-accommodated in a local hotel.
 
The Fire Brigade of Benidorm and the Provincial Consortium of Alicante intervened in the fire, which managed to extinguish the fire in less than an hour. Likewise, they have evacuated around 120 people who live in the building, of which only three remain relocated in a hotel in the municipality. Officers from the Vila Joiosa and Finestrat Local Police have also arrived at the scene, as well as the Civil Guard, whose scientific unit is carrying out the investigation into the cause of the fire at the home.

Carmen Sellés visits the works carried out so far for the recovery of the enclave, located in the core of the urban centre of the municipality

The Provincial Council of Alicante has allocated 400,000 euros to the third phase of the recovery and enhancement works of the Public Baths of the Roman Municipality of La Vila Joiosa , within the framework of its aid program for the conservation and enhancement of the architectural heritage of the province.

The works of this new action, which began on February 1 and will be completed in six months, focus on the protection by covering the site , where the remains of the hot springs are located, and are included in the second call for proposals of the plan launched by the Architecture Area for municipalities with less than 75,000 inhabitants, endowed with nine million euros. The Provincial Council has financed more than 35% of this third phase , whose total budget amounts to 1,115,000 euros.

The representative of the Architecture Area, Carmen Sellés , visited the site this morning together with the mayor of the town, Marcos Zaragoza, the director of the Architecture Area, Rafael Pérez , and other municipal technicians. There she explained that until next June work will be carried out on the construction of this cover to allow the unearthing of the remains of the architectural structures with full guarantee of conservation.

Once the state of the recovery work already carried out was verified in situ, Sellés expressed his satisfaction with the development of the works and recalled that, following the line of action of the Provincial Council, “the final objective is the consolidation and museumization of the enclave to put it at the service and enjoyment of society, generating a public, energizing and cultural space, which connects two important arteries of the city .

The provincial institution, through the Architecture Area , began technical and economic support for this historical legacy in 2019 with the drafting of the Master Plan, which contemplates a total of six phases for the musealization and urban integration of the Allon hot springs. Subsequently, in 2022, a subsidy of 200,000 euros was granted for the execution of the first two phases of the project , on the one hand, the cleaning and adaptation of the surfaces and, on the other, a prior archaeological action through surveys and tastings.

In this sense, the provincial head of Architecture has stated that " the Provincial Council maintains its municipal promotion and cooperation program for the recovery of architectural heritage and, in this case, both for its historical value and its location, the La Vila hot springs Joiosa are one of the most unique projects in our line of aid ,” explained Sellés.

This second injection of the provincial institution aimed at the reform, restoration, rehabilitation or major repair of buildings, constructions and architectural remains of municipal ownership that are considered Assets of Cultural Interest (BIC), Assets of Local Relevance (BRL) or are of recognised historical interest, it has also distributed aid for other buildings or enclaves in the region such as the Hort de Colón House Museum in Benidorm , the Roman Villa in L'Albir   or the Polop Castle .

The Gastronomic Village is a contest of activities organised by the Vila Joiosa Town Council with the collaboration of the hotel and chocolate industry. "We intend to go through this new stage hand in hand with our local tourism sector. Bike Day will celebrate its 24th edition on January 28

Vila Joiosa Town Council and the Xoriguer Ecologist Group sign an agreement to organize this sports day that brings together thousands of bicycle enthusiasts and claims its use in the municipality.

Bike Day is being celebrated again in Vila Joiosa. This popular sports day will be organissed next Sunday, January 28, which aims to promote the use of bicycles among citizens. The Xoriguer Ecological Group and the Sports Council have signed an agreement to carry out this initiative in which thousands of cycling fans are expected to participate.
 
The well-established Bike Day has been celebrated since 1986, but this year marks its 24th edition. The route will start at 10 am from the street market and will cover approximately 10 kilometers through different neighbourhoods and parts of the municipality. Registrations can be made from January 17 at Carrer Constitució, number 44, with a price of 5 euros, which includes refreshments, t-shirt, participation in a raffle and insurance coverage. 
 
The representative of Xoriguer, Jaume Vaello, explains that the aim of this initiative is "to promote the daily use of the bicycle as a means of transport among families, as well as the creation and maintenance of bike lanes and specific parking lots in the municipal term, at the same time that awareness of road safety is formed among the users of this sustainable and environmentally friendly vehicle".
 
For his part, the Councilor for Sports, Peyo Lloret, encourages all citizens to participate in this day in which "we will resume this activity so rooted in Vila Joiosa that will allow the villagers to once again enjoy a day of coexistence around the bicycle and share a healthy route through different areas of the municipality without traffic".

Around 1000 people take part in the Sant Silvestre race that runs through the streets of the center of Vila Joiosa

Vila Joiosa athletes Yassine Taloui and Bahaa Taloui have led the race wearing the number 0 as recognition from the Town Council of Vila Joiosa for their sports record and title of world champions in taekwon-do and kickboxing in 2023.

Around 1000 people have participated in the fifth edition of Sant Silvestre. Athletes of all ages, dressed in Christmas costumes, have traveled the streets of the center of Vila Joiosa in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Father Christmas arrived in La Barbera after going through the Colom and Barranquet streets in a spectacular parade enlivened by the Els Valerios gang of sheremiters and tabaleteers. Father Christmas has paraded on a cart, carrying the mailbox, pulled by a horse and the entourage has been accompanied by elves, children's characters and inflatable robots.
 
Arriving in front of the Barbera house museum, Mayor Marcos Zaragoza was greeted by Father Christmas, while a castle of fireworks and a shower of confetti exploded. Father Christmas attended to each child over the course of 3 hours in his rooms in the gardens of Casa de la Barbera, which have become a magical garden, with music and artificial snow. Thousands of children and adults have enjoyed the visit, handing over the letter of gifts to Father Christmas with whom they have been able to take pictures. The scariest night of the year will be celebrated with local DJs Cüta, Toni Medina and Eugeniet, as well as the music band La Contraria.
 
The party will start at 5:00 p.m. with a light session for teenagers between 14 and 17 years of age and will continue until 3:00 a.m. in the central beach park, popularly known as “the boat park”, next to the Mamovento nightclub, which collaborates with the City Council in the organization of this youth party.
 
"Halloween is a party that is taking root every time among young people and from the City Council we want young people to enjoy this terrifying night in the most fun and safe way, so we offer them music by local DJs and a section also of the Villa, in a place accessible to everyone, such as the central beach", explains the councilor for Festes, Jaime Santamaría.

The new urban transport service in Marina Baixa has already started, which the Generalitat Valenciana has awarded to Avanza Movilidad Levante, the subsidiary in Alicante of the Avanza road passenger transport group. This regional government concession improves the bus service that connects Benidorm with Alfàs del Pi, Altea, Beniardà, Benifat, Benimantel, Bolulla, Callosa d'En Sarrià, Confrides, Finestrat, Castell de Guadalest, La Nucia, Orxeta, Polop, Relleu, Sella, Tàrbena and Vila Joiosa, as well as some connections between these municipalities using 10 lines.

The councilor of Escena Urbana, Ana Alcázar, explains that "this is an urgent measure that we put in place this summer, since we had detected that there were 400 lampposts that had not been working for more than a year".
