Benidorm Local Police carry out drone flights to enforce emergency confinement rules

The Benidorm Local Police will carry out drone flights in the scattered rural and residential areas of Benidorm to check that they are also complying in these parts of the city with the confinement decreed by the the Spanish Government as a consequence of the coronavirus crisis. 

As indicated by the Councilor for Citizen Security, Lorenzo Martínez, "this surveillance will allow us to verify compliance with these guidelines in the spaces and common areas of urbanisations and also in the campsites, which by government decree must close the public to like the rest of the lodging establishments ”. 

Martínez pointed out that "controlling these urbanization and rural areas with the drone allows us to concentrate the presence of the Local Police in the urban area, where the volume of the population is greater, where there are more movements of vehicles, where in addition the health and care centers that may require the services of the agents are located and, ultimately, where surveillance must be reinforced to ensure that the citizen is in compliance with the confinement, essential to prevent the spread of the virus. ”

Likewise, the councilor has reported that the shifts of the Local Police have been varied, in such a way that the agents will work for seven days in a row in 12-hour days and will rest in their homes the following 14 days.
