Costa Blanca municipalities are together developing a safety plan for their beaches which includes a new 'Beach App' so people can enjoy the sun, sea, and sand this summer.

The Ministry of Innovation is working on the design of a simple app that can be a useful tool for people to know the state of occupation of the beaches when deciding which one to go to.

The aim is to achieve safe beaches for citizens in an exercise of co-responsibility involving the various institutions.

It has been designed by the Iest company and people will be able to download it to their mobiles.

Before going to the beach, they will be able to check on how full it is so avoiding unnecessary contact and reduce the risk of the spread of Covid-19.

The President of the Regional Government (Generalitat), Ximo Puigh has said that the 'Turisme Comunidad Valenciana' is also preparing a document with recommendations that will help municipalities to facilitate safe access to the beaches. The aim is, he said, to provide "all possible information" to local corporations, so that they have "a regulatory framework that strengthens beach safety."

Puig also said that "70% of the coastal strip of the Valencian territory is made up of beaches and coves, some of these unknown, so the initiative will help to make them known". It is, he added, "a great opportunity to show these extraordinary beaches" that the Community has.
