Increase the recycling figures in the municipality. That is the purpose set by the City Council of l'Alfàs del Pi and SAV, the concessionaire of the street cleaning and waste collection service. For this, citizen collaboration is essential.

This was revealed this morning, during a visit to a clean point, by the Councilor for Residents, Martine Mertens , the councilors of Street Cleaning , Óscar Pérez , and of the Environment, Luis Miguel Morant , and the person in charge of the collection service of rubbish in l'Alfàs, Miguel Ángel Cuenca .

All of them have stressed the important role played by clean points in the correct recycling of urban waste of domestic origin that cannot be deposited in rubbish bins.

L'Alfàs del Pi has two clean points , located in Reino Unido, near the town center, and Tauró, in the l'Albir area. These facilities allow the correct management of waste generated at home that cannot be deposited in street containers, such as rubble, household goods, pruning remains or electronic devices.

Specifically, the clean points admit paper and cardboard, glass, containers, batteries, electrical devices and household appliances, oils, aerosols, X-rays, fluorescent lights, debris from small domestic works, household goods, scrap metal and vegetable remains. In short, all that waste that cannot be thrown in the containers that are at street level.

The City Council of l'Alfàs del Pi has set itself the goal of promoting and enhancing the value and social need for recycling, since with this simple action we contribute to improving the environment and the sustainability of the planet. To do this, citizen collaboration is appealed to, encouraging the population to continue recycling and to take to the clean points the waste that they cannot deposit in the street containers.

It is about achieving a cleaner and more respectful municipality with the environment . Anyone can recycle, even the smallest of the house. A small gesture that translates into an environmental benefit. If it is recycled at source, the waste goes directly to specific treatment plants for reuse, thus avoiding the extraction of new raw materials.

The Calle United Kingdom Clean Point is open from Monday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meanwhile, the Clean Point on Tauró Street is open from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and also on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Anyone residing in l'Alfàs del Pi can make free use of these spaces. Only waste generated by individuals is allowed and you must be registered in the municipality. In addition, the DNI must be presented when going to deposit the waste.

In addition to the two clean points, l'Alfàs has more than a hundred selective collection points for containers, paper and glass distributed throughout the municipality.

The concessionaire company of the waste collection service (SAV) makes a free telephone number available to the public – 900.102.952 – which they can call to clarify doubts, request information on which is the nearest clean point and also make appointments for the recycling of bulky items.

#MovimientoBanderasVerdes campaign for glass recycling

The City Council of l'Alfàs del Pi has joined Ecovidrio's #MovimientoBanderasVerdes campaign for another year , an initiative that rewards the efforts of the local hotel industry and the commitment of residents and visitors to the recycling of glass containers, thus contributing way to combat climate change.

A total of 133 restaurants, bars and beach bars in the town have already joined this initiative in collaboration with the City Council of l'Alfàs del Pi and Ecovidrio. Now, the departments of Street Cleaning and the Environment are calling on the population to support this initiative .

The citizens of l'Alfàs del Pi recycled a total of 608,450 kilos of glass containers in 2021, which represented an increase of 2% compared to the previous year. The purpose of l'Alfàs is to improve these figures because the future of waste is to recycle and reuse.

The glass that is deposited in the containers is 100% recycled and used to manufacture new containers, indefinitely and without losing its original properties. By recycling glass we prevent the growth of landfills and help in the fight against climate change.

The #MovimientoBanderasVerdes campaign has in this edition the participation of 39 municipalities of the Valencian Community, including l'Alfàs del Pi. An initiative to which 133 hotel establishments in the town have joined and which now appeals to the collaboration of the general public, to achieve , with the help of all, the Green Flag of Sustainability of Ecovidrio, which in the last edition the towns of Dénia and Benidorm won.

Green Flags is consolidated as one of the key initiatives of Ecovidrio's alliance with the hospitality industry at a time marked by the recovery from the pandemic and the need for a green transition. In fact, at a national level, this campaign is carried out in 129 coastal municipalities, from 5 different autonomous communities and has the participation of 14,000 hotel establishments.
