The photography contest organised by the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage on the occasion of the exhibition 'Hung Galaxy' by the Taiwanese artist Hung-Yi has closed with 314 images submitted, according to the data transferred today by the mayor of the area, Ana Pellicer.

The snapshots, captured by 120 participants, “will now be evaluated by a technical jury that will choose the four winning images –three prizes and one access-; some photographs that will be exhibited for approximately two months in l'Espai d'Art Urbà El Pont, giving continuity to the circuit made up of the 14 sculptures of the artist exposed in the open air in some of the main streets of the center of Benidorm ”.

Pellicer has indicated that "this photography contest is the first of the complementary actions planned by the City Council in relation to this first-rate international exhibition that can be seen in Benidorm since mid-April, as it has previously been seen in San Francisco, Washington, New York, Tokyo and Shanghai ”. An exhibition that "brings us closer to color, iconicity and the particularities of Asian culture" and that "bears the signature of one of the most prestigious artists in the East and who is a world reference in urban art."

The mayor has highlighted "the impact that in just two weeks the exhibition is having on social networks, which have been filled with photographs taken by residents and visitors of the 14 Hung-Yi sculptures installed on Avenida del Mediterráneo, Plaza de la Hispanidad, Gambo street and Plaza SSMM Reyes de España ”. "We encourage citizens to continue sharing their vision of the exhibition on social networks, using the 'hashtags' #BenidormTeEspera, #BenidormExpone and #GalaxiaHung in their publications," he added.

The jury's decision, which will establish three prizes and a second prize endowed respectively with €400, €300, €200 and €100 euros in photography products, will be announced next Friday, the 7th May.
