The esplanade of the Casa de Cultura will host today Sunday, October 20, from 11 a.m., the celebration of the seventeenth International Day of l'Alfàs del Pi. A festive day that will see the participation of 70 associations and groups of different nationalities, with the addition of Equatorial Guinea, Thailand and El Salvador as new countries this year.
The International Day of l'Alfàs is a festive and cultural initiative, pioneering in the Marina Baixa, launched in 2007 by the Alfasino council, in collaboration with associations and groups of foreign residents, to commemorate one of the great strengths of the municipality: multiculturalism, since in l'Alfàs del Pi people of almost a hundred different nationalities live together, with more than 50% of the population being of foreign origin.
The day will begin with a parade that will start from the Espai Cultural Escoles Velles, in which the ASIVEN group from Venezuela will participate together with the authorities and representatives of the different countries. For the little ones, a children's area has been set up that will have inflatables for all ages, traditional games, fantasy makeup and a photocall where they can dress up in costumes from the countries participating in the International Day.
During the event, which will last until 5:30 p.m., there will be more than 40 folklore performances from countries such as Bulgaria, Romania, Ecuador, Brazil, the United Kingdom, India, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, Venezuela… There will be more than 6 hours of live entertainment.
In addition, up to 70 associations and groups from different countries will set up information stands to present their culture, traditions and gastronomy, one of the main attractions of this event, which brings together residents and visitors of almost a hundred nationalities.
Venezuela, Colombia, Nepal, Romania, India, Ukraine, Paraguay, France, Dominican Republic, Syria, Algeria, Morocco, Norway, Ivory Coast, United Kingdom, Peru, Bulgaria, Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina, Romania, Bulgaria, Uruguay, Nicaragua, Germany, Cuba, Brazil, Moldova, Colombia, Vietnam, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain… The list of countries represented is long and enriching. This was highlighted by the Councillor for International Residents of l'Alfàs, Martine Mertens, and the Councillor for Relations with Residents' Associations and Clubs, Patrick de Meirsman.
A multitudinous party with stands from different countries, gastronomic tastings, music and dance performances and entertainment for the little ones of the house. A day to better understand the different cultures that coexist in l'Alfàs del Pi, with which it is intended to promote coexistence and integration of people of different nationalities. Hence, on this day, the focus is on associations and groups, which since the first edition have played a fundamental role, sharing their customs and roots in an enriching exchange.
One of the new features this year will be the installation of a 360 camera. This is a platform with a rotating arm that holds a camera that takes high-quality moving images. The type of video obtained has the characteristic of being played in slow motion, that is, at a slower pace than normal, creating a cinematic effect. Another new feature is the cooking show that the Alicante chef David Ariza will offer at the stand of Solidaridad Internacional del País Valencià.
The Town Hall of l'Alfàs del Pi invites residents and visitors to come to the esplanade of the House of Culture this Sunday and enjoy the seventeenth International Day of l'Alfàs del Pi , a festive and convivial event that will allow them to discover the culture, gastronomy and folklore of nearly a hundred countries.
