The project is subsidised with Next Generation Funds and proposes a physical-digital platform that offers tourists and companies an immersive experience
Benidorm will be the first destination to host this space with chatBot, Artificial Intelligence and online video platform
Benidorm, La Nucía and Altea will be the pilot destinations that will test an innovation project together with the El Xato Restaurant to promote blue tourism and MICE in the region. Based on tourist intelligence, the 'Xato Cube' project, presented by the Michelin-starred restaurant based in La Nucía to the 'Last Mile' call for the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain, has obtained a grant of 225,540 euros from Next Generation Funds.
The 'Xato Cube' is the only proposal from the restaurant sector in the province of Alicante that has received the approval of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, and it proposes to set up a space based on a physical-digital OTT platform, with online videos that offers tourists and companies in the sector an immersive and interactive experience. Specifically, advanced digital technologies will be used, such as Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, integrating data from residents and tourists from the Smart Offices of the destinations, and it will have an intelligent ChatBot to ensure that the user experience is intuitive and effective.
The project, in addition to integrating all the information from the destinations and participating companies, also incorporates a regenerative and circular tourist intelligence system that prioritizes the recommendation of personalized and regenerative experiences and activities, a very attractive option for event organizers and companies linked to blue tourism committed to improving the impact on the local community and the region.
'Xato Cube' has already been presented to the three destinations that will test the project, all of them members of the regional and national DTI Network. In Altea, the project managers met with the Councilor for Tourism, Xelo González, while in Benidorm the details of the pilot were passed on to the Councilor for Innovation, Aida García Mayor, and the coordinator of the DTI management body. Finally, the Councillor for Tourism, Mª Jesús Jumilla; the Councillor for Industry and Commerce, Cristóbal Llorens; and the technical teams from Tourism and Technologies participated in the presentation in La Nucía.
Benidorm will be the first destination to test the cube from March. The City Council is already studying the space where it will be located. Later, from June, the 'Xato Cube' will pass through La Nucía and Altea.
In addition to the active participation of the three municipalities, the Patronato Costa Blanca of the Alicante Provincial Council has shown its interest in the project.
The person in charge of the 'Xato Cube' project, José Cano, has pointed out that "the support of the Board and the integration of information from other federated platforms, as well as the technical coordination of the company Inteligencia Turística will allow us to put on the market a digital and intelligent solution applicable to other tourist products such as nautical, cultural, sporting, gastronomic, etc."
