Benidorm begins its programme of parallel activities for Benidorm Fest, with the opening of a commemorative exhibition at Benidorm City Hall and a welcome celebration taking place this evening at the Cultural Centre.
From this weekend, the main hall of Benidorm City Hall will host an exhibition charting the history of Benidorm Fest and the original Benidorm Song Festival. The display brings together archive material including documents, recordings, press cuttings, trophies and posters, offering visitors a comprehensive overview of the evolution of both music events.
The exhibition marks the first official activity of the sixth edition of Benidorm Fest, which will hold its semi-finals on 10 and 12 February, with the Grand Final taking place on Saturday 14 February at the Palau d’Esports L’Illa de Benidorm.
Yesterday, celebrations got underway at the Cultural Centre, where participating artists waledk the fuchsia carpet for a photocall. There as a welcome party last night with a DJ set from Tony Aguilar Then an official after-party took place at Hotel Don Pancho.
Ahead of the public opening, the exhibition was visited by local and national representatives, including Mayor Toni Pérez, Councillor for Events Jesús Carrobles, and members of the municipal council. Representatives from RTVE also attended, including María Eizaguirre, Director of Communications; Virginia Bazán-Gil, Director of the RTVE Archives; and RTVE Board members Rosa León and Angélica Rubio.
During the visit, Mayor Toni Pérez highlighted “the value of the RTVE and Benidorm City Council archives and the strong collaboration between both institutions, which reflects the high quality of work being carried out.”
The exhibition is open to the public as part of Benidorm Fest’s cultural programme, celebrating the city’s long-standing connection to music and live performance.
