Thousands of people have followed the traditional parade, which has become one of the European benchmarks for LGBTQ+ tourism.
Benidorm was awash with colour, music and celebration this Saturday as thousands lined the streets for the annual Pride Parade, the highlight of the city’s Pride week.
The parade, described as the largest in Benidorm’s history, featured 18 floats and hundreds of participants in dazzling costumes. From groups marching in solidarity to individuals dressed in vibrant creations, the spectacle transformed the city into a sea of rainbow flags, music and dance.
Starting at the junction of Ametlla de Mar Avenue and Paseo de Levante, the parade wound its way along the seafront, turned at Avenida Europa, and continued along Avenida del Mediterráneo towards Plaza de la Hispanidad before reaching its final destination at the Julio Iglesias Auditorium, where the celebrations carried on into the night.
Benidorm Pride, now firmly established as one of Europe’s flagship LGBTQ+ tourism events, attracts visitors from across the continent. Organisers, together with the City Council and Visit Benidorm, estimate that more than 20,000 people travelled to the city especially for this year’s Pride, many from the UK, but also from across Spain and other parts of Europe.
The parade was the centrepiece of a week-long programme of parties, shows and cultural events marking Benidorm’s 15th Pride anniversary – cementing its reputation as Europe’s “Summer Closing Pride.”
