Benidorm / 30 March 2026
Authorities in Benidorm have announced a major increase in police presence and traffic control measures ahead of the busy Holy Week period, as the city prepares for its first major tourist influx of the year.
The operation, led by Benidorm City Council, will run from Thursday 2 April through to Tuesday 7 April and will see up to 50 additional local police officers deployed across key areas of the city.
Councillor for Citizen Security, Jesús Carrobles, confirmed that patrols will be significantly increased in pedestrian zones, beaches and seafront promenades, where large crowds are expected.
“Our priority is to ensure that these holidays pass with complete normality and safety for both residents and visitors,” he said.
Increased patrols and targeted enforcement
Police will focus on high-footfall areas, with a visible presence designed to deter anti-social behaviour and maintain public order during the peak tourism period.
Enforcement activity will include:
The plan also includes enhanced coordination between officers, following a security briefing led by José Carlos Amorós alongside senior police personnel.
Preparing for a major tourism boost
Easter is traditionally one of the busiest periods in the Benidorm calendar, drawing thousands of national and international visitors to hotels, beaches and retail areas.
Officials say the reinforced measures aim to ensure smooth mobility, public safety and a positive experience for visitors, while supporting residents during the seasonal surge.
The increased police presence in pedestrian areas reflects expectations of particularly high footfall, with authorities keen to maintain order and safety across the city.
