The Benidorm Town Hall Assembly Hall hosted the awards ceremony for the Christmas Window Dressing Contest, which was almost full for the occasion and which served to recognize the best window displays in the city in each of the three competition categories. A gala that was chaired by Mayor Toni Pérez, accompanied by the Councilor for Commerce, Javier Jordá, and members of the corporation. Representatives of the Hosbec, Aico and Abreca associations also met at the event.
In total, there have been 43 establishments that registered for the contest in the categories of the commerce and services sector, the hotel and restaurant sector, and the hotel and tourist accommodation sector. After the evaluation carried out by the jury, the results were as follows:
In the Commerce and Services category, first prize went to Taima Artesanía with 116 points. Second place went to Verdi Baby, with 109 points and third prize went to Di Marco with 108 points.
In the Hospitality and catering sector, the first prize with 105 points was received by La Cava Aragonesa. The second prize went to the establishment My Bakery Benidorm and the third, with 99 points, went to Loca Lolita.
Finally, in the Hotel and Tourist Accommodation category, the Servigroup Calypso hotel won first prize thanks to its 113 points. After him, the Benidorm Plaza hotel won second prize with 106 points and third went to the Servigroup Venus hotel.
At the event, the Aico Associated Commerce Special Award was also presented to the Aquavisión Óptica trade, with 107 points, and the Abreca Associated Hospitality Special Award to the Florentine Tea Room, which achieved 98 points.
The gala served to highlight local commerce as the backbone of our economy. The Councilor for Commerce, Javier Jordá, dedicated a few words of welcome and thanked the three associations -Hosbec, Aico and Abreca- that have collaborated in the contest, the jury, and also the participating establishments "and those who make the effort every day to raise the blind, with what that entails.” Jordá added that "from the city council, with the campaigns carried out, we have always opted for hospitality and commerce because Benidorm wins with you."
The event was closed by Mayor Toni Pérez who recalled that “with the aim of supporting the city we began to create things like the #BenidormTeEspera, #LuceBenidorm or #BenidormTeDaMás campaigns, which are efforts to inject economy into local businesses.” Pérez also stressed the City Council's commitment "to boost the local economy, knowing that you are not only the ones who serve us, but also the ones who give soul and light to the street." For this reason, he added that "as in Benidorm the destination is the city, we ask the locals to make those who visit us happy." The first mayor ended his speech by recognizing “the special effort you make to make the city look brighter and better at Christmas.”
