The City Council has observed three minutes of silence and offers its collaboration in these difficult times to the affected municipalities.
Benidorm City Council has observed three minutes of silence this afternoon in memory of the victims of the DANA that has particularly affected the province of Valencia, and has shown all its support and accompaniment to the relatives and friends of the deceased and missing, as well as to all the people affected and who have suffered serious material damage to their homes.
With this citizen concentration, in which members of the Corporation headed by Mayor Toni Pérez have participated, Benidorm has joined the call launched at a national level by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).
Following this rally and on behalf of the city, the mayor has conveyed “the deepest condolences to the families of the victims of this tragedy”, and has thanked “the tireless work that since yesterday has been carried out by firefighters, personnel from the Generalitat Valenciana and the three provincial councils, state security forces and bodies, the Military Emergency Unit and assistance organisations to try to help the residents of the large number of towns affected by the devastating effects of the floods, the most serious that have been experienced in the Community in recent decades”.
Toni Pérez has offered “the collaboration of Benidorm City Council to the Town Councils of the towns affected by the floods, for whatever they may need both in these hours following the tragedy and in the coming days and weeks”. In this sense, he has stressed that it is “a tragedy that is still being experienced and that unfortunately will continue for hours, days and who knows until when” since “at this moment the damage is incalculable”.
