The inauguration of the Christmas House and Plaza and the lighting of the artistic lighting light the fuse for 'Beninadal 2024'
The programme runs until 5 January and includes children's shows, mechanical attractions, concerts, nativity scenes and visits from Santa Claus and the Royal Postman.
Benidorm will once again have an extensive Christmas programme this year, especially focused on the little ones in the family, which will begin this Friday, December 6, and will last for a whole month; specifically, until the evening of January 5. The Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, and the Councillor for Festivals, Mariló Cebreros, have presented today the programme for 'Beninadal 2024' which is born from "the vocation for there to be happiness in the city, to make our boys and girls happy and to serve as a link between all the people of Benidorm and those who visit us on those days", said the first mayor.
The events will begin this Friday at 6 pm, with the inauguration of the Christmas House, located in the Casa Museu de l'Hort de Colón, where a representative of Santa Claus will also come for a few hours to collect the letters and wishes of the little ones. An hour later, at 7 p.m., the city's ornamental lighting will be switched on, with the epicentre in the Plaza de SS MM Reyes de España, where there will be a special show to celebrate this Christmas lighting.
From there, a great and varied programme will begin, including children's shows, dance, theatre, music, mechanical attractions, exhibitions, an ice rink and a Christmas market. There will also be two nativity scenes for the public to enjoy: one in the Plaza de SS MM Reyes de España itself and the one traditionally set up by the ACR La Barqueta at its headquarters on Calle de Tomás Ortuño, which will be inaugurated two days later, on Sunday, 8 December, at 6 p.m. In both cases, visits are completely free and open to the public.
In addition, as every year, the city will receive a visit from a representative of Santa Claus, in the Christmas House, on the 6th, 7th, 8th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th, as well as from the Royal Postman, in this case in the Christmas Square, from the 2nd to the 4th of January, to collect letters from the little ones. From the 2nd to the 5th of January, also in the gardens around the Town Hall, the Camp of the Three Wise Men will be set up, which children will also be able to visit before the arrival of Their Majesties, on the evening of the 5th of January, when the Grand Parade will take place.
The mayor explained that the programme will start “in the first days, during the weekends” and that it “will be extended to all days of the week once the Christmas school holidays begin”, when there will be activities every day. He also announced that "there will be other surprises that will be revealed as the dates approach" and invited residents of the city and other places in our area to "enjoy these days in Benidorm."
For her part, the Councillor for Festivals, Mariló Cebreros, has announced that in addition to the monumental nativity scene that will be set up in the Plaza de la Navidad, Benidorm will also once again feature the presence of the giant figures of the three Wise Men, which are set up in a different location each year. In this case, the chosen location is the upper part of the Parc de Foietes, Cebreros has announced, who has also pointed out that they “can be visited from December 10th because they involve a large assembly that will begin the days before”.
Likewise, the Councillor has indicated that this year “the light points have been expanded”, so that the Christmas lighting will reach this time “more than twenty streets, avenues, squares and public spaces in the city”. In addition, unlike other editions, “all the lights that were installed for the Fiestas Mayores Patronales have been completely removed”, so that all the lights “will be Christmas-themed”, added the Councillor.
Likewise, among the new features, Mariló Cebreros has announced that a carousel and other renovated mechanical attractions will be installed in the Plaza de la Navidad. “We hope that the children will like them and that they will enjoy the Plaza and all the programming as every year.”
