L'Alfàs del Pi is preparing to experience one of its most multicultural festivals: the International Day, which this year celebrates its sixteenth edition. This is an event that will bring together more than fifty associations of different nationalities and will feature more than 40 live performances, including music, singing, dance and popular dances.
The main objective of the International Day of l'Alfàs is to promote coexistence and integration of people of different nationalities, while highlighting the richness of multiculturalism, one of the great strengths of the municipality, remember from the Residents area International councilor Martine Mertens and councilor Patrick de Meirsman, who call for participation.
The International Day will be celebrated this Sunday, October 22, from 10:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the esplanade of the House of Culture. It is a true festival, in which more than fifty associations based in the region have been involved, once again, in preparing the programming. Lots of music, lots of gastronomy and lots of art spread across the stands of the different participating countries, which will offer tastings of typical dishes and products from their land, live performances, as well as games and workshops for children.
Venezuela, Colombia, Nepal, Romania, India, Ukraine, Paraguay, France, Dominican Republic, Syria, Algeria, Morocco, Norway, Ivory Coast, United Kingdom, Peru, Bulgaria, Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina, Romania, Bulgaria, Uruguay, Nicaragua, Germany, Cuba, Brazil, Moldova, Colombia, Vietnam, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain…. The list of countries represented is long thanks to the participation of more than fifty associations and groups, which are dedicated to the organization of International Alfa Day.
The main objective of International Day of l'Alfàs is to promote coexistence and integration of residents of different nationalities. This is a pioneering festive and cultural initiative in the Marina Baixa, launched in 2007 by the Alfasino town council, in collaboration with associations and groups of foreign residents, to commemorate one of the great strengths of the municipality: multiculturalism, since in l'Alfàs del Pi people of almost a hundred different nationalities live together, with more than 50% of the population of foreign origin.
A day for greater knowledge and rapprochement, which aims to promote coexistence and integration of people of different nationalities. And it is precisely associations and groups who design the program of activities in collaboration with the Alfàs City Council.
Hence, on this day, the focus is on associations and groups, which since the first edition have played a fundamental role, sharing their customs and roots in an enriching exchange.
