The Department of Environment, Infrastructure and Territory has conducted more than 4,600 analyses this season to ensure the safety and quality of bathing waters across the Valencian Community.
Environment Minister Vicente Martínez Mus stressed that the regional government’s priority is to guarantee a safe summer for residents and visitors alike:
“Our goal is to ensure a safe summer, and we work tirelessly to maintain the excellence of our beaches. This effort is essential to sustaining visitor confidence.”
According to the Ministry, technicians have carried out exhaustive monitoring of 250 beaches and 15 inland bathing areas including rivers, lakes and river pools. Samples are processed within 24 hours, enabling swift action if anomalies are detected. In the event of a water quality issue, an emergency mechanism is activated immediately, with repeat testing and corrective measures put in place.
Martínez Mus highlighted that the system represents “a constant and meticulous effort to ensure that our water meets the most demanding quality standards.”
At present, no beaches are closed for bathing in the Valencian Community. However, swimming remains discouraged in the coastal areas of Meliana and Alboraia, which are not classified as official bathing zones. Here, irrigation ditches contain pollution levels deemed unsuitable and potentially harmful to nearby waters.
