The Generalitat's Emergency Coordination Center has activated an extreme risk alert for the Valencian Community starting this Friday and continuing throughout the weekend due to the expected adverse weather conditions, particularly associated with extreme temperatures and a high risk of forest fires.
The alert affects large areas of the autonomous region, including both inland and coastal areas, and responds to the risk levels indicated by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) and other technical bodies. Citizens are urged to exercise "maximum caution and responsibility," especially in rural and forested environments.
112 is urging people to avoid outdoor activities during the peak hours of the day, not to light fires in the mountains under any circumstances, and to stay informed through official channels. Authorities have also strengthened preventive surveillance with ground and air resources.
Winds of 50 km/h (31 mph) and temperatures of 39°C (103°F) are expected . The westerly winds are especially intense on Saturday and Sunday, with gusts that could exceed 45 km/h (28 mph) in inland areas of Valencia and Alicante. Throughout Saturday afternoon, gusts of up to 50 km/h (31 mph) could be recorded along the Valencia coast, with easterly winds. In Castellón, the wind component will be variable, with a greater emphasis on westerly winds in the southern inland areas, although lower gusts than expected are expected in the rest of the Valencian Community.
Temperatures will reach around 39 degrees Celsius in inland areas of the provinces of Valencia and Alicante on Friday (Aemet even reports the possibility of reaching 40 degrees Celsius), while they will cool off on Saturday and Sunday.
