THE MURAL IS MORE THAN 120 METERS LONG AND IS ON AVENGUDA CAMÍ DE REIS, THE MAIN ENTRANCE TO THE HISTORIC CENTRE
The historic center of Finestrat welcomes residents and visitors with an urban art mural depicting some of the town's most iconic landmarks: Font del Molí, the Carreró, Plaça La Torreta, the Ermita del Santo Cristo del Remedio, La Cala beach, and Puig Campana, the mountain that gives its name to the school where this artwork is located. Located on Avinguda Camí de Reis, the main entrance to the historic center from the CV-767, this mural is over 120 meters long and nearly 3 meters high.
The mayor, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, visited this artistic work with the Councilor for Culture, Nati Algado , who praised this unique welcome to the historic centre of Finestrat. "It is a commitment to urban art and mural art. What better way to fill that entrance to our municipality with color and joy than with this mural of more than 120 meters. It had to be filled and we have done so with some of the most emblematic places in our town. It is a letter of introduction with everything that the resident will enjoy and, above all, so that the visitor stops there and has, with those strokes and those colors, a sample of everything they can discover in Finestrat." Among the places represented in this mural are the emblematic Puig Campana mountain, La Cala, the Hermitage of Santo Cristo del Remedio, the Font del Molí, Plaça La Torreta, the "carreró". “We invite you to enjoy it, walk around it, and take your photos when you visit us,” concluded Nati Algado.
The work is conceived as a site-specific project that fuses work and environment, adapting to the uniqueness and history of Finestrat through a colorful and illustrative tour in 3 parts: in the 1st part, arriving from the CV-767, this mural welcomes with a courteous and friendly welcome, written in different languages, appealing to the large presence of diverse nationalities in the town, thus encompassing residents and visitors.
The second part presents the skyline of various emblematic areas of Finestrat: Puig Campana, La Cala beach, Castell, Ermita, Font del Molí..., combining flora and fauna such as flowers (Cistus sp, Olea europaea, Nerium oleander...) and birds, among others.
The Finestrat tourism brand concludes this event, thus encompassing the promotional nature of this mural. The mural was created over the past three weeks by Félix Gordero in collaboration with Ángela Gordero.
