Cultural, festive and institutional programming for "July 9, Day of the Bride"
This year, “ 9 de juliol. Dia de La Nucía ” will commemorate the 319th anniversary of the founding of La Nucía (1705-2024) and a cultural, festive and institutional programme has been designed with the 18th Medieval Market, two concerts in the Auditorium, the presentation of a catalogue on the toponymy of La Nucía, an exhibition on the origins of La Nucía and an institutional event. All scheduled activities will have “free admission”.
Once again, La Nucía Town Hall has designed a special programme to commemorate “9th July. La Nucia Day”, to remember that on 9th July 1705 La Nucía was born as an independent town from the Barony of Polop. The aim of this programme is to raise awareness of this historic event in La Nucía, especially among the younger generations.
The presentation of this programme was attended by Elvira Geurts from the AMATA Artisans Association, which coordinates the Medieval Market, Pedro Lloret , Councillor for Culture, Cristóbal Llorens , Councillor for Festivals and Bernabé Cano , Mayor of La Nucía.
XVIII Mercado Medieval
La Nucía travels back to the Middle Ages from 5 to 7 July, through the 18th Medieval Market. This activity commemorates the 319th anniversary of the founding of La Nucía (1705-2024) . This year it includes a medieval camp, knight fights, oriental dances, medieval characters, troubadours, fire shows, workshops for children and demonstrations of crafts. Admission for the public will be free.
The 18th Medieval Market of La Nucía can be visited next week: Friday 5th, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July from 6pm to midnight and will be located in the streets between the Town Hall (plaça Major) and the old Laundry (plaça Sant Antoni).
The Medieval Market is an initiative of the La Nucía Town Hall to celebrate the 319th anniversary of the town (1705-2023) and is organised by AMATA (Association for the Improvement of Traditional and Modern Crafts), which guarantees that all the stalls are exclusively made up of Author's Crafts. Visitors to the Medieval Market will find crafts, gastronomy, street theatre, dance, music, demonstrations of crafts and lots of entertainment during three intense days.
Two Concerts
For this "July 9" two concerts have been scheduled in the Auditori de La Nucía, with free entry. The first will be on Saturday, July 6 at 8 p.m. with the performance of the Choir of the Musical Union of La Nucía together with the Pols i Pua Orchestra of the Altean Philharmonic Society . Performance included within the XXI Musical Exchange Concerts Campaign.
The second concert will be on Sunday July 7 at 12 noon the Festival of Young Bands with the participation of the Young Band of the Musical Union of La Nucia and the Young Band of the Musical Society of Alzira. Before the performance, there will be a small " walkthrough " through the streets of La Nucía.
Both concerts will have free admission with an invitation, to be collected during this week at the box office of the Auditori de La Nucía
July 9: Exhibition and presentation
On Tuesday 9th July, “9 de juliol. Dia de La Nucía”, the day on which La Nucía commemorates its foundation as an independent town from the Barony of Polop, there will be a special programme in the Sala Ponent of the Auditori de La Nucía. To celebrate the 319th anniversary (1705-2024) of the founding of La Nucía, a series of events have been scheduled, with free admission.
At 19 hours a small institutional event will be held to remember the anniversary. At 19:15 the presentation of the "Toponymy of the Valencian Towns" catalog will take place. La Nucia" , edited and published by the Valencian Language Academy , with the field work carried out by professors Maria Antònia Cano and Maria Isabel Guardiola . At the end of the event, the exhibition on the roots and origins of La Nucia, entitled "Our Roots - From An - Nuzayka to La Nucia" will be inaugurated in the East Hall of the Auditorium.
