More than 20,000 people have visited the "Estiu al Riu" craft market throughout the summer. Tourists and locals have enjoyed weekend nights in July and August from a wide range of craft stalls, as well as live music performances in Arsenal Park.
The mayor of Commerce and Tourism, Rosa Llorca, has highlighted that this new leisure offer has been very well received every weekend since July 5 and until last night and is committed to improving the offer next summer in this enclave, the mouth of the Amadorio river, where the distinctive colourful houses of the historic centre are combined with the nature of the river and next to the sea.
"Summer on the river" ended last night with the performance of DJ Covita Pemán. In addition to the live musical performances, the craft market has had complementary activities attended by more than 150 people in each session. On Friday 23 August, the short film Els Amants, directed by Joan Vives, was screened, with the presence of one of its actresses, the villager Pepa López. "The lovers" was filmed in the historic centre of Vila Joiosa and Dénia. And last Friday, August 30, Poble de Peix, the documentary directed by the villagers Marta Asensi and Jaume Lloret and produced by the Vila Joiosa Town Council, which tells the history of fishing and related industries through of traditional trades, with testimonies from sailors, sailors, caulkers, cooks and researchers.
