490 bikers participated in this international UCI 1 mountain bike race
The surprising Tamara Wiedmann (Mondraker Factory Racing XC) and the New Zealander Samuel Gaze (Alpecin) have been the winners of the fourth edition of the Shimano Super Cup Massi MTB XCO La Nucía , which was held this morning in La Nucía. The best Spaniards have been the bikers of the BH Coloma Team David Valero who has been third and Jofre Cullell , who has been fourth. Also worth mentioning is the third place of the Olympic champion Jolanda Neff (Cannodale Factory Team), who was stopped in her comeback by a fall.
“La Nucía, City of Sport” has welcomed the best mountain bike with world-class bikers, regulars in the World Cup events.A total of490 bikersparticipated in thisUCI C1, in an intense weekend of competitions in all categories.
This Shimano Super Cup Massi de La Nucía 2025 was organized by the local club “La Nucía Coloma Bike Club” and the support of Costa Blanca-Diputación de Alicante and the City Council of La Nucía .
The award ceremony was attended by Eric Bianchi , representative of Massi, Carlos Coloma , designer of the circuit, Miguel Ángel Ivorra , Director General of Urban Planning of the Generalitat Valenciana and Bernabé Cano , mayor of La Nucía

Sunday morning started with a surprising women's race, where Tamara Wiedmann set a very fast pace from the start line , surprising all her opponents. The Austrian rider led the race from start to finish, without faltering, managing her advantage very well and winning with a time of 1:09:02''. A great triumph in her debut with the blue colours of the Mondraker Factory Racing XC team . The Australian Rebecca Henderson (Orbea Factory Tema) and the Swiss Jolanda Neff (Cannondale Factory Team) fought a great battle for second place , but a fall by the Olympic champion meant that Henderson finally finished second, 51 seconds behind Wiedman, and Neff third. The podium was completed by the Scottish Isla Short (4th) and the Italian Chiara Teocchi (5th).
Gaze wins again in La Nucía
At midday, the men's elite and under-23 race offered a spectacular race of pure Olympic XCO, with a high level. The race was conditioned by the fall of the XCM world champion Simon Andreassen (Orbea Fox Factory Team) that split the lead in the race in two.
Ahead of them were the two-time short track world champion (23 and 24) Sam Gaze (Alpecin) and the German champion Maximilian Brandl (Lapierre Racing Unity) who escaped and would fight for the final victory.
On the last lap Gaze picked up the pace and left his opponent behind to cross the finish line alone with a time of 1:3646''. With this victory, the New Zealander achieved his second victory in La Nucía, after the one achieved in 2023, being the first biker to repeat triumph. Brandl came in second, 12 seconds behind the Alpecin biker. Third was the Spanish champion David Valero , who in a great comeback managed to reach the last place on the podium on the last lap. Fourth was his BH Coloma Team teammate Jofre Cullell and fifth was the Belgian Arne Erik Janssens , who lost the bronze on the last lap.
The BH Coloma Team won the team category and also achieved third place in the U23 women's category with Sofía Waite.
Great public presence
The spectacle was guaranteed on a spectacular 4.5 km “Olympic Cross Country” (XCO) circuit designed by Olympic medallist Carlos Coloma , with start and finish next to the Muixara School in La Nucía. A large audience followed this international mountain bike race live, which was also broadcast live by streaming on the Ocisport TV channel , with cycling expert José Luis Arce.
