Hotel occupancy data for the second half of February and the monthly average compiled by BigDataHOSBEC provide a precise snapshot of the behaviour of the hotel industry in the Valencian Community.
The occupancy figures have been quite similar to those recorded for the same period in 2024, although there is an increase in the British market in Benidorm reaching a share of 42%, even surpassing national tourists.
On the side of the best data, Castellón leads hotel occupancy, reaching an average of 85% coinciding with the celebration of CEVISAMA and a lot of business and professional activity around the promotion of the ceramics sector.
The city of Valencia is once again experiencing falls in hotel occupancy rates, especially in the 4-star segment, although reservation forecasts for the first half of March are the same as those for 2024. At this point, the sector is concerned about cancellations caused by the alert situation that AEMET activated last night, although it is expected that things will return to normal in the next few hours.
The forecasts for Fallas, although still a little ahead of schedule, make us think of a scenario similar to that of 2024, with the differential fact that a public holiday on Wednesday is much less attractive for travel and hotel reservations than when it coincides with a long weekend that is a public holiday throughout the Valencian Community.
Below, we offer a detailed analysis of hotel occupancy in different parts of the Valencian Community.
The annual hotel occupancy report prepared by BigDataHOSBEC for the following tourist spots in the Valencian Community is now available:
Benidorm
Costa Blanca (South Alicante)
Province of Valencia (Valencia city)
Province of Castellon

COSTA BLANCA AND SOUTH ALICANTE
The Costa Blanca (excluding Benidorm) recorded an occupancy rate of 74.2% in the second half of February, 3.3 percentage points below the values reached in 2024. The drop in both fortnights has had an impact on the monthly balance, which stands at an average occupancy of 72.8% (see the weekly evolution of hotel occupancy in the bar graph of the report).
Domestic tourism has been the main driving force of the destination during February, representing 47.3% of the total. In the south of the province of Alicante , the data reflect a more positive evolution. Occupancy in the second half of the month rose to 81% , allowing the month to close at 82% , exceeding the figures for 2024 by 2.6 percentage points. Unlike the Costa Blanca as a whole, in this area national tourism predominates , representing more than 66% of the total .
Forecasts for March point to an initial occupancy of 66.5% on the Costa Blanca , while in the south of Alicante confirmed reservations have already reached 74.6% , with expectations of improvement as the month progresses.
VALENCIA PROVINCE AND VALENCIA CITY
During the second half of February, the province of Valencia has recorded an occupancy rate of 75.3% , improving on the figures for the first half of the month, although still below the 82.8% reached in the same period last year (see the weekly evolution of hotel occupancy in the bar graph of the report).
In monthly terms, the average provincial occupancy rate stands at 74.2% , which represents a decrease of 2.5 percentage points compared to 2024 . For its part, the city of Valencia experiences an improvement of 5.5 points compared to the first fortnight, although it fails to match last year's figures, remaining at 74.1% , four points below the 2024 figure.
As for the origin of visitors, while in the province there is a balance between national and international tourism , in the capital of Turia the foreign market takes on greater importance, representing 58% of the total . Among these, the United Kingdom leads with 7.7% , followed by Italy (6.9%), Germany (6.4%) and the USA (6.1%) .
The outlook for March is favourable, with 69.7% of confirmed reservations in the province and 72% in Valencia city for the first half of the month. These figures are expected to increase with the arrival of Las Fallas , one of the most emblematic events in the destination.
CASTELLON PROVINCE
February has been a turning point for the province of Castellón , with the progressive reopening of hotels after the winter break, coinciding with high-impact events such as the Castellón marathon and the international CEVISAMA fair , a benchmark in the ceramic sector.
Thanks to this boost, occupancy in the second half of the month reached 84.9% , raising the monthly average to 79.2% , 7.7 percentage points above 2024. This growth has also been contributed to by the reopening of the Magic World complex , which remained closed last year during this same period (see the weekly evolution of hotel occupancy in the bar graph of the report).
Domestic tourism remains the mainstay of the destination, accounting for 84.5% of the total share in February. Among international visitors, France remains the most prominent market, representing 3.2% of the total.
For the first half of March, the trend remains positive, with 75.7% of reservations confirmed , exceeding the forecasts recorded in 2024 for these same dates.
