This Sunday, January 21, the start of the IV Regatta of the Banco Fijo SUMA League will take place at the Benidorm Nautical Club, organised by the Rowing Federation of the Valencian Community and the club itself, with the collaboration of the Department of Sports of the Benidorm City Council. The start of the competition will be at nine in the morning.
The forecast points to the participation of 60 teams from 15 clubs throughout the Valencian Community and a total of 540 athletes in modalities ranging from cadets to male and female veterans, in addition to the SCM teams (Overcome Breast Cancer). The Benidorm Nautical Club, which on this occasion rows at home, will participate with four teams: female and male veterans and male and female absolutes, in addition to the Anémona team in the SCM category.
Regarding the weather forecast, a sunny day is expected with winds from the southwest with about eight knots of intensity that, a priori, will lead to a difficult test due to the state of the sea and that the departures of the boats may pose some complications for the referees.
With a large number of fans including athletes and visitors, the planned route will have a length of 5,000 meters for the senior, veteran, youth and SCM teams and 2,000 meters for the cadets. The start will take place near the breakwater so that the beginning of each test can be seen from the port.
From there they will depart to Tío Ximo beach in Rincón de Loix to take the beacons and head back to the port.
The organization has encouraged all fans of the sea and regattas to come to the Nautical Club on Sunday to appreciate the beauty of this tough and exciting sport of rowing.
