In mid-May, with the comprehensive renovation works of the biblioplaya, the improvement and modernization of the Paseo de las Estrellas in l'Albir will begin, an investment budgeted at 964,000 euros, subsidised 100% with European funds, within the framework of the tourism sustainability strategy in destinations, within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan financed by the European Union – NextgenerationEU.
On the occasion of these works, l'Alfàs has requested the temporary suspension of the candidacy for the blue flag for Racó de l'Albir beach, but not for the other seven blue flags that the municipality has. "We all know that when there are works there is no eligibility for the blue flag, but we can announce that we are going to maintain top quality services throughout the bathing area for as long as the work lasts, and of course the necessary actions to guarantee the excellence of our waters,” explains Vicente Arques, mayor of l'Alfàs del Pi.
Works of transcendental importance for l'Alfàs del Pi, given the great attractiveness of the affected road axis, the promenade, and the large influx of tourists it supports. Works that will be carried out in phases, as announced this morning by the mayor, Vicente Arques, accompanied by the Councilor for the Environment and Beaches, Luis Morant. Modernization work to promote sustainable mobility that will begin in mid-May, with the remodeling and adaptation of the beach library, an action charged to the municipal budget, for an amount of 48,381.72 euros, for the overall rehabilitation of facilities with almost two decades, to continue in the month of July with the reconversion of the Paseo de las Estrellas into a single accessible platform, “giving more prominence to pedestrians and bicycles, therefore subtracting it from road traffic, promoting vegetation, recovering public space of the seafront for the recreation of residents and visitors, and increasing the permeability of the road.” Although the work will begin in the middle of summer, it will not affect the bathing area or the promenade until after the high season, points out Mayor Alfasino, so that action will be taken on the infrastructure affected by the work on the second and third line of the beach.
“If the works are carried out on these dates it is because they are 100% subsidized with European funds and we have deadlines for their execution to meet. At the end of the year, certain percentages of each Plan will have to be executed: 30% of the PSTD 2022, and 15% of the PSTD 2023," explained Arques, "and we are certainly not willing to lose the opportunity for growth and development that means receiving an economic injection of almost 4.5 million for our municipality, obtained by the way after a lot of work."
